The news the whole neighbourhood has been waiting for: Café Max's seasonal terrace reopens on Saturday, April 4, 2026.

Every year, when the first rays of sunshine warm Avenue de la Motte-Picquet, the Café Max crew sets up a few extra tables on the pavement. Nothing fancy, just the essentials: a chair, a tablecloth, a glass of wine and the spectacle of Parisian street life.

From April 4 to October 31, 2026

For seven months, the terrace extends the bistro atmosphere outdoors. At lunch, it's the meeting point for neighbourhood regulars — ministry workers, locals, visitors coming back from Les Invalides or Champ de Mars. In the evening, the mood turns intimate under soft lights.

Chef Frédéric Vardon takes advantage of the warm season to adapt the blackboard to seasonal produce: asparagus, peas, heirloom tomatoes, strawberries... Café Max's bold cuisine takes on summer flavours.

A few tables, a lot of character

The Café Max terrace isn't a trendy rooftop or a designer pop-up. It's a stretch of Parisian pavement in front of a 1941 bistro, with views over the 7th arrondissement rooftops and the comings and goings of the neighbourhood. It's simple and that's exactly what we love.

Wine-wise, our selection of 400+ references tastes just as good on the terrace as at the counter. A Provence rosé, a Loire white or a Rhône Valley red: our team will guide you.
